Today various people spoke about their experiences from last weekend’s missions project in Tijuana, Mexico. Partnering with a few other churches, we built two homes for two deserving families. Eric Sasaki, Mark, Ada, Bethany and David Kawa shared about how the project impacted them and encouraged everyone to sign up for next year. Keri Kaba also put together a video presentation of the team in action.

Pastor Rick speaks about being united as a body as we pursue “the Dream”. Rick showed a clip about the impact of 9/11 on people in NYC. He reminded us that we should 1) Stand firm in one spirit 2) contend as one for the faith and 3) do not be frightened.

Congratulations go out to the Victory Youth for the outstanding work they did during their Project 31 fund raising efforts. Following is an excerpt from a newsletter from one of the groups they were working for, Free Arts for Abused Children:
Teens Turn $31 into $500 Worth of Art Supplies
As many of you know, Free Arts not only relies on generous donations of volunteer time, but also gracious donations of art supplies. Just a few days ago we received a wonderful donation from a group of youth at Victory Fellowship church in Torrance. This group of young people was given $31 as “seed money” and then encouraged to use this money to generate more. And they did just that! By recycling cans, hosting a dinner fundraiser at California Pizza Kitchen, and conducting a bake sale for friends, the group of 6th-12th graders raised more than $500. They then took that money and bought a bunch of art supplies from our Wish List.
The principle of this exercise came from Matthew 13:31, which is where the amount of $31 came from. Keri Kaba, who helped lead this project said, “The purpose of Project 31 was to put our faith into action and grow something small into something large, to bless someone else.” To the youth at Victory Fellowship, we extend our sincere appreciation!
Our volunteers have already begun using these art supplies to reach more children and families.
This is just one example of the outstanding work they did with Project 31. What a great blessing they are to our church, and the community. Thank you and congratulations to Keri, the Youth Staff and all the Victory Youth for a job well done!

Hi all! Welcome back from the All-Church Retreat. I heard that it was an awesome weekend, and the planning committee did a great job! Just a quick message to say that there have been a few updates to the website. The monthly sermon schedule has been updated. The event schedule has also been updated to show that the Tijuana Mission Project is coming up in two weeks! We have the largest group that Victory has ever sent going up this year, and they will be building two homes instead of one! God bless all of you! A new Board’s Eye View has also been posted. If you haven’t seen the site lately, take some time to explore it a little. You might see some other things that will grab you.
Please note that on September 28th after service there will be a congregational meeting to inform everybody about the status of the Dream, the budget and staff updates. Please plan to stay for this important information.

Pastor Rick expounds on some of the lessons of Psalms 71: ● Come along side and mentor the youth ● Declare God’s goodness! ● Ask yourself what more does God have for me? ● Consider yourself “asked” by our Father in heaven ● Seek out the wisdom of the older folks
