All-Church Picnic at Ernie Howlett Park today.
From John 13:33-35, Pastor Rick spoke on how a Christ-like Community will result in us being a positive witness to the world.
Reading from Galatians 6:1-10, Pastor Rick introduced our new theme for the year, "Community". Our community is both within and outside the church.
Today our Japan Missions Team shared with us their summer missions trip.
Pastor Rick Chuman spoke on the importance of short term missions to Japan.
Dr. Scott Yoshikawa spoke on one of the most misinterpreted passages in the Bible, John 3:1-15. It involves the conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus. Readers misinterpret Nicodemus as "literally missing" Jesus' point, but his real problem was he did not believe God. Nicodemus was not guilty of not knowing, but instead not believing what he knew.
Dr. Scott Yoshikawa spoke today from Ephesians 2:1-10. He recounted the story of our initial fate, but how we are perfected by Christ Jesus and now have great hope for our future.
Pastor Ken continued with his study of Luke 9:23. Today, exploring on the invitation to follow Jesus. Reading from Luke 9:23 and John 4:1-42, as Christians we need to put away our distractions, learn God's will and follow Jesus. Like the disciples following Jesus, this is not going to be easy and it will take us out of our comfort zones.
Pastor Ken continued with his study of Luke 9:23. Today exploring on the invitation to take up our cross, daily. Reading from Luke 9:23 and Matthew 27:27-32, we have been crucified with Jesus, we need to take up "our" personal cross daily.
Reading from Luke 9:23 and Genesis 22:1-10, Pastor Ken Tachikawa spoke to us that if we are to follow Jesus, we need to deny ourselves.
